Can you ever imagine, what is the highest price that can be charged for a cup of coffee? Then look at these figures.
Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee of the world. It costs $300 to $700 per pound or we can say `13,800 to `32,200 just for 453 grams (approximate). Now you can guess the cost for one cup of coffee.
The cost is very high because of the most unusual processing of these coffee beans. Unusual in the sense that the berries of Kopi Luwak are first eaten by an Asian palm Civet, a cat sized furry animal we can say it a cat. Then the beans are defecated by those cats are then collected, washed, sun dried, roasted and processed into an aromatic, less bitter drink.
Kopi Luwak is native to the islands of Sumatra , Java, Bali and Indonesia . Kopi is the Indonesian word for coffee and Luwak is the name for that civet (cat). The animal is also found in Kerala, where it is called Mara-patti. Any way, if you ever get a chance to taste that coffee, never think back the above mentioned processing methods of Kopi Luwak, because it may cause vomiting.
